BBQ'd Cedar Plank Halibut


Prep Time

10 - 15 minutes

Prep Notes

Soak cedar plank in fresh water at least one hour prior to grilling

Make marinade ahead and let halibut soak at least 30 minutes prior to grilling

Cooking Time

10 - 20 minutes, depending on thickness of fish

Yields

serves 4 with 1 1/2 pounds of halibut

Ingredients

Fresh wild caught Halibut (1 1/2 pounds)

Cedar planks for grilling/BBQ'ing

Marinade:

3 TBSP +1 tsp Grass Fed Butter

3 TBSP + 1 tsp Organic Coconut Sugar

3-4 cloves Garlic, minced or pressed

1 TBSP + 2 tsp fresh Lemon squeezed lemon juice

1/2 tsp black pepper

2 1/4 tsp Coconut Aminos (soy free seasoning sauce)

Directions

Make marinade:

Heat marinade ingredients on stove in sauce pan until sugar is melted. Take off heat and set aside.

Cut Halibut into 1 1/2" steaks place them in container to marinate in, i.e.; glass baking dish, etc. for at least 30 minutes

Take cedar planks out of the water they were soaking in and place on a flat cookie sheet (without sides works best)

Place halibut steaks on cedar plank(s) spoon remaining marinade on halibut.

Cookie sheet is used to transport cedar plank to BBQ.

Place cedar plank(s) now loaded with halibut on the grill

BBQ on Medium, if using a Traeger grill (indirect heat BBQ) cook at 325, until fish starts to flake

Remove planks from grill and place on cookie sheet to transport to counter.

Serve directly from plank or place on plate.

Notes

Substitutions:

fresh lime for fresh lemon

brown sugar for organic coconut sugar

butter for grass fed butter

Bragg's liquid aminos (natural soy sauce) for coconut aminos

Salmon for Halibut
